Dr.Mario is a representation of what is wrong with the current modern science of medicine. The “viruses” are neverending, and each one seems to grow stronger and stronger each “level” they get to. Our “Dr.Mario” is our hopeful saint in all of this. We look up to the Doctor Marios to fix us and make us better. Most have good intentions, but giving the sheer lack of resources or funding to provide each individual with the uttermost care, Dr.Mario hopes by throwing pills at the viruses would solve the problem. And it does do its job, if only temporarily. The pills “clear” out your system and your stage is complete once it’s done. But then, you get sick again, and need more pills to solve your problem. This time they are stronger…and it keeps getting like that, until the inevitable end where your body is so overwhelmed by the viruses and stressed from the pills that it just fills up. Game Over.

The “viruses” could stand for different diseases we’re plagued with. The red one represents AIDs, and how it has plagued our nation and just kills out of no where. The blue is for addiction. It seems like us humans will always find something to get addicted to and is a vicious never-ending cycle of relapses and withdrawals. And the yellow is suicide. No matter how much we’ve put in to try to understand how the brain works or try and alter a depressed mind with chemicals, there will always be somewhere out there with suicidal feelings we may not ever know about until we find them slumped over the couch and their brain matter on a photograph of their newly deceased wife.
